Meditating on the Passion of Christ

On this Tuesday of Holy Week, we continue our pilgrimage with Jesus toward the cross. To help you on your journey, here is an excellent devotion written by Martin Luther called "How to Meditate on the Passion of Christ." It's a pdf file.

These meditations are only fruitful if they eventually lead to the peace and joy of Easter morning. Knowing that our sins are forgiven, that our salvation is secure and that we will be raised on the last day to eternal life in heaven is important as well.

Absolutely. St. Paul said, "We preach Christ crucified." And "We determined to know nothing among you but Christ and Him crucified." But the same apostle said, "If Christ has not been raised, you faith is futile and you are still in your sins."

And of course, Luther's meditation does take us through the cross to the empty tomb.
