Actor and comedian Jim Carrey riffs on religion etc. here.
Notice the dry, withered, old canard, "I'm not religious, but spiritual."

Someday, I'd like to have someone ask me and I'd say, "I'm not spiritual, but I am religious. You know, spiritual has all the implications of 'look at me' exhibitionism, pick and chose consumerism. It just seems kind of pretentious and self-righteous to me. But when you're religious, it says, 'I don't think I'm anyone special. I'm not setting myself up as some slef-absorbed Hollywood star or a motivational speaker. I'm just an average guy, trying to live out what I believe to be true.'"
REally those are the associations I have with ‘spiritual' and 'religious' respectively.
